Welcome to first time walkers
If you have never been on a ramble before with us then here are a few pointers which can help you.
- Arrive early - Although our walks start at 10am, it is advisable to turn up about 15 minutes before hand so that you have time to kit up and sign in with the leader before starting out on a walk.
- Wear comfortable footwear - During the winter months it is advisable to wear a sensible set of walking boots, however you can get away with Wellington boots. Only during the driest of summer months is it sensible to wear trainers. As you will be travelling cross country and over rough ground you will need something which covers the front of the foot (definitely no flip-flops).
- Wear layers - As you will be out for a few hours in the lovely English weather, then it is likely to change over that time. Just because it was raining when you drove to the walk, it doesn't mean it will continue as you walk around. Note that as we can walk through woods, no matter how sunny it is then it can be advisable to have something to put on to prevent any chilly arms.
- Bring something to eat and drink - Half way around we stop for a drink and a nibble, so remember to bring something to eat, and a warming drink can certainly revitalise the spirits in the winter months.
